Evening
We all love to shop with our vendors, and from 6 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, we can mix and mingle with the vendors during an informal cocktail hour. So grab your favorite cocktail or wine from the bar, and chat with the people who search the world to bring you everything that feeds your bonsai obsession!
District Styling Competition
Cheer on your team, as the GSBF Districts send their artists to compete against each other to work on identical tree stock, showcasing their talents and abilities to transform that material into innovative, interesting bonsai. This annual event pits local teams against each other to vie for the prestige of being judged with top placings. The District Competition trees are later sold at auction.
Bonsai and Suiseki Exhibit
A world class Bonsai and Stone Exhibit is being assembled from the very finest trees in California, highlighting the talents of a variety of bonsai artists. These trees have been chosen for their quality and beauty, and the display will take your breath away. Within the Bonsai Exhibit will be a special Stone Exhibit, assembled from various collections with an eye to the nuance and subtlety of Stone art. The Bonsai and Stone Exhibit is free to registrants.
Round Robin
This fun, fast paced competition pits five artists against each other, and the clock, to work on their own quality material, creating bonsai in front of an active audience. Come and watch on Saturday beginning at 9 am, as the five artists get your bonsai juices flowing!
